National spine industry newsletter, Becker’s Orthopedic and Spine Review, has named Kenneth A. Pettine, MD, of Loveland, as one of the “Top 100 Spine Surgeons” in the United States for the second year in a row. The nationally acclaimed newsletter is known for its stringent selection and nomination process. Unlike many other “Top of Chart” awards programs, Becker’s does not allow a surgeon to nominate himself and does not accept payment for the award. It is truly a vote of peers and patients.
Dr. Pettine, of The Spine Institute, serves patients on a national basis with office locations in Loveland and Fort Collins, CO as well as Cheyenne, WY. He has an extensive background in spinal surgery, research and rehabilitation and is co-inventor and co-designer of the Maverick Artificial Disc, a disc replacement device for the low back. He is the principal investigator for twelve FDA studies involving non-fusion spine technology. Dr. Pettine is a distinguished speaker at national and international symposiums and the author of nearly 20 research publications. He received his medical degree from the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine in Denver. He completed his residency and master’s degree in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and completed a fellowship at the Institute for Low Back Care in Minneapolis.
“I am so grateful for this recognition,” said Pettine. “We all appreciate being acknowledged for doing something well. Especially when that recognition comes from your peers and your industry. I’m honored to be included in this pool of tremendously talented surgeons.” Dr. Pettine was one of very few surgeons selected for this honor not associated with a major medical center. His achievements have been accomplished in a private practice setting.
